A whole new Accelerace event for 2009!!
Now this one's pretty special. Basically the idea is this: a 250 mile bike ride that follows the bike course for our Scottish Ultra Triathlon (180 miles), then rides the run course (35 miles, including cycling over one of Britain's highest roads: the Pass of the Cattle), then the small matter of a final 40 miles or so along the eastern edge of Skye before hopping a ferry back to Mallaig...
The interesting part - because of the distance (and hence length of time it's likely to take), we'll be starting at 8pm (or so - TBC) on the Friday night, and riding through the night and the Saturday, and hoping to catch the 7pm ferry back on the Saturday evening. That's actually the last ferry, so if we miss it, things could get interesting.
The cost - nothing. We're going to be emailing a list of people who've taken part in/expressed interest in Accelerace events in the past few years, and bringing some of the fitter* members of Team Accelerace along to take part as well. It should be an experience. Let's hope it doesn't rain.
If you'd like to come along and take part then email us at enquiries@accelerace.co.uk. We should point out that we'll be offering no support for this whatsoever (note the cost above) besides mutual discomfort and company, and observations about the (slowly) passing scenery.

*not necessarily very fit. But Ross assures me he's thinking about arranging some form of training plan which may kick off at some point in late July.
