Matt Wordsworth

Matt is a schoolboy rower turned rugby player turned boxer turned explorer, turned marathon runner turned triathlete, turned doctor. So, not averse to a bit of exercise (or medicine). He crossed the Greenland icecap on skis in the summer of 2004 and described the experience as 'great'. As part of his exceptionally demanding schedule as a trainee doctor, it's been noted by some corners of the (very friendly) Team Accelerace fraternity that Matt seems to spend inordinate amounts of time 'gallavanting' around the world, going to some 'very exotic places' - not that there was any jealousy there at all.

Look for Matt in Channel 4 broadcasts about Vikings rowing across the North Sea, and expect to see his go-faster knee-high compression socks at a marathon near you soon.

He has no quad muscles, which is odd.

Age: 24
Weight: 94kg
Height: 6'3
Favourite event: Snowdonia Marathon
Rides: Klein
Wears: Gill, and Viking helmets
Shouldn't: Have changed universities

The sunset looks a little fake here, but Matt assures us it's not just a background screen.

Socks that come above the knee are sensible and make you run faster. They do not look silly. In the least bit. Mind you, the 118 headbands aren't a huge style success either.
