Accelerace Training Guides

We understand that any endurance event is a serious undertaking, and one that can be quite daunting. However, with a little understanding about sensible training, and some commitment and determination, most relatively fit people (and many less fit people) are perfectly capable of completing any of the longer distance endurance events on the race calendar, whether that be a Middle Distance Triathlon like the Accelerace Extreme Triathlon, an Ironman-distance event, or even an Ultra-distance Triathlons (increasing in multiples of Ironman distances - double, triple etc). For both these types of longer distance triathlons see Accelerace's exciting plans for next year's event programme.

We don't by any means endorse recklessness or over-estimating your capabilities, and if you haven't attempted strenuous or prolonged exercise before, or for a long time it's often a good idea to check with your doctor before embarking on a tough new training programme.

To this end, we are beginning to collect training tips, advice and guides for endurance events and put them together into a free resource for those either new to the sport or who are looking to increase the distances they are racing. Our current crop of guides are below:

1. A Guide to Ultra-Triathlons - Jules Taylor's excellent compendium on training for and competing in longer distance triathlons. Whilst targetted primarily at those undertaking Double, Triple or further Ironman-distance races, we believe that much of the advice here is relevant to those racing at Ironman-distance events for the first time.
